The Future of Water: A human and business priority

Our Path to Green Hydrogen

The momentum in hydrogen continues to accelerate worldwide. Due to its high energy density, abundance of the element on the Earth and low/zero emissions, hydrogen has a potential to become the crucial energy source for the sustainable economy of the future.

In a path towards decarbonisation commitments, hydrogen demand can grow up to 85 million tonnes by 2030; of this, about 60% will stem from markets like steel, industry, mobility, aviation, and maritime. To meet this new demand, we will see the emergence of new energy hubs and global value chains that enable a hydrogen market three times its current size by mid-century. The global investments in hydrogen are projected to increase 16-fold by 2030 reaching €283 billion. By 2050 hydrogen industry is forecasted to contribute up to €2 trillion to the global economy and cover about 12% of the global energy demand.
